Marcel Berkowitz — passed away March 22, 2018.
On March 22, 2018, Machal veteran Marcel Berkowitz, who fought bravely in the 1948 War of Independence, passed away. He was buried in Israel, on the moshav where his daughters live.
AVILC President Jeffrey Margolis remarked:
Sad news. May his memory be a blessing. One of our more flamboyant heroes — and I will surely miss his colorful personal saga, which he was fond of retelling at our annual Chanukah party. We will also note his absence at this year’s Israel Day Parade, which he rarely missed. Our sincere condolences to Rachel, who — important to note — was always so supportive of Marcel’s activities with AVI/AVILC. Au revoir, mon ami.
